On this page you will find the procedures to install the APE Server on your own server. Follow the instructions step by step, and feel free to visit us on #ape-project@irc.freenode.net for more information. Notice: You may want to first check the Getting Started with APE page for a better understanding.

[edit] Requirements

To run APE Server you will need any one of the following supported Operating Systems:

  • Linux (with a kernel 2.6.16+)
  • MacOS X 10.3 computer
  • Windows computer with a virtual machine running Linux.
  • FreeBSD with latest APE Server version : http://github.com/lunetics/APE_Server (see discussion page before visiting)

[edit] Downloading APE

APE is available in various formats: binary, Debian package, RPM package, source (tar.gz or from git) and also a virtual box image is available! If you are a beginner, choose binary, debian package, or RPM package.

If you are on Ubuntu, just click on the .DEB package, or on the command line (as root) enter:

APE:~# dpkg -i ape-1.0.i386.deb

You can now go to Configure APE.

If you are using ubuntu 10.04 or ubuntu 10.10, you have to install this package before install APE Server : http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?suite=all&searchon=names&keywords=libmysqlclient15off
